Pinewood Derby

The pinewood derby for us this year 2 days after we returned from So. Utah.  That meant Larry and T cutting out his car before we left and bringing sand paper and spray paint with us on our trip.  After long days at the ball park Larry and T (and sometimes just Larry) would sit outside our hotel and sand the car.  After that they (sometimes just Larry) would take the car to the other side of the parking lot and spray paint it.  When we got home they put on the wheels and weights and R helped T put on the stickers.

And here's the finished product.

His car did really good!  In the first 4 races he took 1st place and then got to race in the "championship" races.  Over all he took 5th place and was pretty happy about that.  We prepped him before we left that it's not about winning - it's just for fun and don't get frustrated if you don't win.  I told him to be happy for his friends if they won.

He was pretty excited when his car started winning but was very humble about it and just sat in his chair and "pumped his fist" a little.  He did look very proud when he went to get his car and R reached over the flags and gave him a high five.

I'm glad Larry was willing to put in the time and effort for this Hokie car.  Here are some other pics.  Over all a pretty fun night for T.

Home From Tournament

So we got back Sunday night from Southern Utah and somehow it has taken days to unpack and get things back in order, if that's ever really possible around here.  But we had TONS of fun while we were gone.  The tourney went "well".  I guess I should say R played really well (as always) but again, not the number of wins we wanted.  Someone said, "you must have gotten in a really tough pool."  I think they are right, they did play some of the best teams but in the end people usually just look at W's and L's.  And we had our fair share of L's.  But....... I loved seeing R back on the field!  He played 3rd base, 1st and did a great job pitching.  And he didn't strike out once!!  Very proud of him.  Here are the game pics.

T, A and L loved playing with all the other kids during the games.  L especially loved being able to follow the big kids every where.  And I loved that the weather was beautiful, in the 70's, sunny and perfect.  When we got hot or tired you could find us under our umbrella.

And after the games L was very happy to rest on the bed at the hotel and watch her favorite shows on tv.

After all the games were over we made the drive to Zion National Park.  We had fun hiking to a few different places and driving through the tunnel in the mountain several times.

This bridge was a little scary to walk over!!!

And now we are home and 3 of us have colds and L has a terrible cough and an ear infection in both ears.  Poor girl.  But we had a great time and everyone "traveled" great.  I'm proud of R and how he played.  After the first day of games there were some tears and frustration but he got several compliments on the second day about his pitching which made him feel good.  T, A and L were great sports driving all over for this.  And as we have just received the regular season schedule we feel the craziness begin!

March Madness Tournament

It's that time of year again.......... My favorite time of year.......... Because it means warmer weather, lots of outside time, and complete craziness at our house.  It's baseball season!  This weekend is the first tourney of the season, the one R's team has been practicing for, for the last few months.  Here are their new "throw back" uniforms.

Good Luck Havoc! Play hard, play your best, play to win!

Cheer Showcase

My girl A was very excited to attend another Cheer camp with a friend, done by our High School.  This time they learned more stunts and new cheers.  For the showcase (since there wasn't a game to cheer or perform at) they showed the stunts they learned and did the cheer.  It was fun to see her excitement!  I knew she was nervous but she did GREAT!

My camera never works so well in gyms so the pictures aren't the best but here are some of them.

Happy Birthday Baby Girl !

We can't believe that last week (I'm a little late in posting) our baby girl L turned 2 years old!  She has become a beauty just like her older sister and has a huge personality.  For months when we asked how old she was she would smile and say "almost 2!"  On her birthday I asked her so many times how old she was now, she finally stopped answering and would just shrug her shoulders.  Then the other day I asked again and she said "19" and then laughed.  And then I laughed and then she kept saying it.  Crazy girl.

In the morning, on her birthday, when she woke up I took her down stairs to see her presents piled on the table and some balloons.  She didn't even look at the presents but said, "OOOOHHHHH BALLOONS" !!!!!  And that was all she cared about all day.

(Yes, that's T in his underwear in the background)

For her birthday party we invited Grandpa and a couple cousins over for dinner and cupcakes and root beer floats.

She had a blast playing and didn't really get the whole present thing.  Good thing the older kids were there to help with that.

We love you L!  You are such a huge part of our family and we are so lucky you are ours.  We love to see you learn and grow each day and glad you can always make us laugh.  We can't believe our baby girl is 2.  You are the best "littlest" sister there is!
