A Little Dance

A had fun again a couple weeks ago participating in the HS Drill Team mini camp.  A friend of ours is one of the captains and this mini team camp is one of their fundraisers.  A had so much fun dancing last year we decided to do it again.  This year the theme was Lion King so they painted the girls faces.

She wasn't quite as nervous this time because she knew what to expect on game day.

One last run through before going out on the field.

Heading onto the field.

On the field waiting for music to start.

GO MUSTANGS!!!

We Have a Runner

I'm so proud of this guy.

I've always thought he was a great runner.  He's fast, he "looks like a runner" and he really can run for a long time (he's in pretty good shape).  I would hint around a little bit and always point out the high school boys cross country team as they ran by but I was afraid to say too much cause he always does the opposite of what I suggest.  But one miraculous day he said he wanted to try Cross Country this fall - instead of flag football.  I calmly said, "Cool, sounds like a great idea.  Let's sign you up."  But inside I was saying, "YES YES YES!!! I KNEW IT!!!"  So we signed him up and he started practicing with about 25 other kids, a couple of the HS coaches and a couple of the HS runners.  He has had 2 meets so far and his last one is this Friday.

His age group runs a 3k and T has done great!  The first race he got 6th place and in the second he got 7th but it was a little longer course.  His time in the first race was 15:18.4 and it was sooooo fun to see him cross the finish line.  Each time there have been 2 or 3 other Rec centers in the meet also.

We were a little worried if he didn't get first place he wouldn't want to continue (cause sometimes he's like that).  But he really likes it.  Likes racing and even likes the practices.  Hopefully he's found his "thing" cause he's a pretty good little runner!

New Shoe

Friday night R injured his toes on the tramp and limped around until Sunday night when he then tried to hobble down the stairs and slipped.  Then his toes REALLY hurt and started to swell more and turn black and blue.  He had a very hard time falling asleep because it hurt.

Monday I drove him to school and told him to text me at lunch if it was really bothering him.  I never got a text so I thought he was ok and I let him walk home - cause I'm nice like that.  By the time he got home he was in tears.  After a lengthy discussion I decided to call to get some xrays. Part of the discussion was about his 2 baseball games he has left to play.  One on Monday and the last one on Thursday.

After some xrays, the nurse came in and asked what size shoe he wore.  Then the doctor came in and showed us the xrays and sure enough his second toe is fractured.  And so this is his new shoe.

He gets to wear this for a few weeks.

So he's out of his last games and I didn't take any pictures of him during fall ball this year.  So here is a really cool college taken and put together by Kevin Lunt Photography during spring season.  Kevin does great pictures and has also taken A's dance pictures.  Great pics of R!!!

(Yes, I covered up his name on the picture)

End of the First Week and a Couple Other Things

This big guy here, finished his first week of Jr. High!  Here he is the first day.

When he got home, Sunny was especially excited to see him!

By the end of the week, these two felt pretty cool and confident.  Here they are after their first week and on their way to the football game with Larry, T and my Dad.

While they went to the game, the girls stayed home since I wasn't sure how readily available bathrooms were for L at the game.  She's doing pretty good with her panties but a 3 hr football game without bathrooms close probably wouldn't go to well.  So this is what we did.

And here I thought we were trying to take a nice picture, just the three of us.  Then I turned around the camera and saw this......

We all laughed!  Especially A, she thought she was pretty funny.

And T has been pretty busy doing not only school work (he has a fabulous teacher!), but earned some scout belt loops and pins from camp and has also earned some new Lego's (for various jobs and stuff around the house) - which he is into right now.

This week, Cross Country starts for T and dance starts for A.  R has some practices and a game.  But that's all after we have a relaxing Monday off.  Happy Labor Day weekend!

End of Summer

Our summer is winding down.  T and A have started school and on Monday R starts.  Here are a few things we have been doing.

First, watching one of the fires that was close to our house.  This summer the state has had fires all over and a few have threatened our little town.  We didn't have to evacuated but we were on alert.  These pics are from the boys room upstairs.  It never came over the mountain, thankfully!

Second, while watching the many fires, the kids had fun on the tramp.  We got a net to go around it but hadn't put it up yet in these pictures.  Here are some of their fancy moves.

Even the dogs wanted in on the action.

Third, we have had lots of fun at the water parks.  We had season passes to Seven Peaks and the kids have loved it! Here are just a couple of shots of the girls and A's friend in the wave pool.  The boys are off somewhere on the slides.  L is very bold and unafraid in the water and makes me nervous even with her life jacket.  She loves to be out in the waves and wants to be with the big kids when the waves are on.

Last but not least....
A wanted to get a hair cut.  Not just a trim but she has wanted short hair for awhile and I tried to hold her off.  Finally we decided we would let it grow long enough to donate to Locks of Love.  Here she is getting her beautiful hair cut off.  The result is sooooooo cute!

This is our last weekend before everyone is in school (except L).  R has started baseball again, T wants to try cross country so that starts in a few weeks and A starts dance again in a week or two.  Summer has been pretty fun but I guess we are almost back to "real life" - which isn't a bad thing.

What's Happening Around Here

First of all, this boy,

is now 12years old! He just got back from Scout Camp, was gone for a week and had a BLAST!  I asked him if he ever wished he was home or was a little lonely or homesick and he looked at me like I was crazy and said, "NO."  I'm glad he had so much fun.

He celebrated his birthday up at camp and then Larry went up on Friday night to spend the night with him and come home Saturday.  He took some pictures up there so I will have to get those off his phone.

Sunday morning R received the Aaronic Priesthood and was ordained a Deacon so he was able to participate in passing the Sacrament.

On Sunday night we had to take the dog to the vet and came home with this...

Looks like she has a horse hoof.  She was outside running with the kids and came in with her paw covered in blood.  We found that her biggest pad had split open.  Blood down the sidewalk, up our driveway and into our house.  She didn't get any stitches but has to wear this for a few days.

And now, do you notice anything different about this little beauty?

How about now?.....

Yep, those are panties!  She's been wearing them for 2 days now and doing pretty good.  I always feel stuck at home for a couple of weeks but she was ready and has been wanting to wear them for a while now.  I just wasn't ready myself.  Wish us continued luck with all this :).

First Day of School

This beautiful girl had her first day of 1st grade today! She met her teacher yesterday and went to a full day of school today.  She was so excited when we met her after school.  I was so happy for her.  She brought her lunch from home because she was a little nervous about the whole cafeteria thing.  But with a little coaching from her brother I think she will buy lunch from school one day :).

And here she is at school with one of her best buddies that lives down the street from us.  They aren't in the same class but found each other at recess.

This handsome guy here is in 3rd grade! I still remember very clearly when he started kindergarten.  His teacher this year is awesome!  His first day of school was yesterday and he said his teacher was the nicest he had ever had.  I was very excited when I met her also.

Of course here is the silly picture before school.

We rode our bikes to school and here are T and A locking them up.

And this little lovely needed her picture taken also.

We are excited for another year to start.  The summer did go really fast even though we had 2 months.  R still has another month before he starts at the Jr. High.  He is currently at scout camp for the week.  T said tonight at dinner that he kinda missed him.
